Treasury and Finance Minister Lütfi Elvan had a meeting with the ambassadors of the European Union (EU) member countries. Minister Elvan made a presentation about "
Economic Reforms" announced by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on March 12 to the ambassadors and representatives of EU member countries at the meeting held by video conference method.
Minister Elvan gave detailed information about "macroeconomic policies" and "structural policies", which constitute the main body of economic reforms, and answered questions from ambassadors regarding reforms. In addition, Elvan gave information to the ambassadors about the general outlook of the Turkish economy.
Sharing his assessment with the AA correspondent on the subject, Elvan said:
"Immediately after President Erdogan shared the economic reforms with the public, we received meeting requests from both investors and representatives of foreign missions regarding the content of the reforms. We attach great importance to fulfilling these demands. In today's meeting we held with the ambassadors of
EU member countries, we shared the global economic outlook, basic indicators of the Turkish economy and the details of our economic reforms, and we had fruitful discussions in the question and answer section.
At the meeting, we detailed our policies in the fields of public finance discipline, combating inflation, strengthening the financial sector, reducing the current account deficit and promoting employment. We also underlined that macroeconomic stability is our main priority. We will continue our meetings on our economic reforms in the coming days. We will share with all our interlocutors how determined Turkey is to implement these reforms.”
