The
Ministry of Commerce does not forgive the exorbitant price increase. The Ministry fined 208 companies that were found to have made exorbitant price increases.
Ministry of Commerce Unfair Price Evaluation Board conducted exorbitant price inspections in 81 provinces. In the examinations made officially by the Unfair Price Evaluation Board, it was announced that the 1861 files were decided until today. As a result, an administrative fine of 6 million 870 thousand lira was imposed on 208 companies that were found to have made an exorbitant price increase.
The statement made by the Ministry of Commerce increased its field audits on the recent exorbitant price increases on, particularly food and basic consumer goods, after the complaints and applications made by citizens throughout Turkey.
As a result of the inspections, products with an above-normal price increase were detected and the companies that were examined by the Unfair Price Evaluation Board were asked to defend themselves. Administrative fines ranging from 10 thousand lira to 100 thousand lira were imposed on those who were proven to have made an exorbitant price increase, and from 50 thousand to 500 thousand lira for those who were stockists.
Vegetables, fruits and staple food products led the complaints about the exorbitant price hike. In addition, applications for protective health products such as surgical masks, hand disinfectants, various cleaning and hygiene products were also included in the list.
