Mitsotakis Believes EU Should Make Bulk Natural Gas Purchases
Greek Prime Minister Kiryakos Mitsotakis stated that Russia is demanding astronomical fees for natural gas and suggested bulk purchases to the EU.
Mitsotakis Believes The EU Should Make Bulk Natural Gas Purchases. Participating in the World Economic Forum held in Davos, Switzerland and answering Borge Brende's questions there, Mitsotakis made important evaluations about the economic consequences of the Russia-Ukraine war.
Mitsotakis stated that he believes the EU should buy natural gas in bulk and said, "We pay astronomical prices to Russia for natural gas. These do not reflect the realities of the gas market."
Mitsotakis once again underlined that the European Union (EU) should get rid of its dependence on Russian hydrocarbon resources as soon as possible and said that the diversity of renewable energy sources should be increased.
After the Ukraine war, Mitsotakis stated that the EU, like the leaders of other member states, should focus more on defense and said, "We need to spend more, but we should spend more wisely. We should look at our defense systems, we should have more opportunities to work together."
