More Than 2 Billion Will Be Paid For Osmangazi Bridge
For vehicles not crossing the Osmangazi Bridge, this month, 2 billion 35 million lira will be given to Otoyol A.Ş. This figure is more than the money collected in the donation campaign.
Emphasizing that 1.4 billion TL collected under the Donation Campaign is below the amount to be given for a bridge, CHP Kocaeli Deputy Haydar Akar said, “This money should be given to the nation, not the contractors this year. There was a big decrease in the number of vehicles crossing the bridge in 2019, now there are no vehicles passing through Osmangazi or Yavuz Sultan Selim due to the restrictions due to the epidemic. ”
With the campaign initiated by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan,
the amount to be paid to Astaldi, Nurol, Makyol and Özaltın companies is estimated to be over 2 million TL. This money will be paid for 5 million 754 thousand vehicles that did not cross the bridge in April.
THE NUMBER OF VEHICLES IS DECREASING
An annual guarantee of 14 million 600 thousand vehicles was promised for the Osmangazi Bridge. While 9 million 98 thousand vehicles passed in 2018 and 8 million 486 thousand vehicles passed in 2019, 1 billion 500 thousand TL warranty payment was made for 5 million 502 thousand vehicles that did not switch in 2018. Compared to last year, 612 thousand fewer vehicles using the bridge increased the invoice to be made to the company. It is estimated that the number of vehicles crossing the bridge will decrease further in 2020 due to the economic crisis and coronavirus measures.
THIS MONEY SHOULD BE PROVIDED TO THE NATION
Akar emphasized that the payment to be made to the company in April will exceed TL 2 billion. This money should be given to the nation this year, not to the contractors. There was a big decrease in the number of vehicles crossing the bridge in 2019, now there are no vehicles passing through Osmangazi or Yavuz Sultan Selim due to the restrictions due to the epidemic. The invoice will grow even more and the payments to be made for 2020 will exceed 10 billion TL. The necessary steps must be taken immediately, guarantee payments must be calculated in TL, not in foreign currency. ”
