President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Iranian President Ibrahim Reisi came together at the 7th Turkey-Iran High Level Cooperation Council meeting. After the meeting, President Erdoğan and Iranian President Reisi held a joint press conference.
Iranian President Ibrahim Reisi said during the press conference with President Recep Tayyip Erdogan that they discussed renewing the gas deal with Turkey. Speaking at the press conference held after the meetings of the two leaders, Tayyip Erdogan also stated that the trade target of 30 billion dollars remained at 7.5 billion dollars due to the pandemic, but the two sides remained committed to the target. President Erdoğan made the following statements about the details of the meeting: “It is possible to accelerate this process in the steps we will take in the defense industry. This is also possible with the steps to be taken in both oil and natural gas. As Turkey, we have made significant progress in recent years, especially in the field of defense. I attach great importance to our solidarity in this field.” Iranian President Reisi's statement was as follows: “There is no doubt that Mr. Erdogan's visit to Iran will be important for the development of relations between the two countries. In our talks and meetings, we have discussed many issues, especially economic and trade relations between the two countries. We have set a figure of 30 billion dollars, and this means that the current trade volume will triple. The establishment of industrial parks between the two countries is one of the issues we agreed on today. The establishment of information and technology parks in both countries and the establishment of companies in this field has been one of the topics of our negotiations. We agreed on the extension of the 25-year agreement on the export of natural gas between the two countries. During our meetings today, we discussed and discussed the development of investment issues between the two countries.
