November Unemployment Figures Announced

Unemployment figures for November have been announced. Unemployment fell in November 2020 to 12.9 percent.

Turkish Statistical Institute (TURKSTAT), announced the unemployment figures for November 2020. According to the announced data, the number of unemployed people in Turkey aged 15 and over decreased by 303 thousand people in November 2020 compared to the same period of the previous year and was recorded as 4 million 5 thousand people. The unemployment rate decreased by 0.4 points and was recorded at 12.9 percent. This non-agricultural ratio was 14.8 percent with a 0.6 percentage point decrease.   Construction Employment Rises While the number of employed people decreased by 1 million 103 thousand persons to 27 million 66 thousand persons, the employment rate was 42.9 percent with a 2.7 percentage point decrease. In the said period, the number of employed people decreased by 361 thousand in the agricultural sector, 91 thousand in the industrial sector, 751 thousand in the service sector, and 101 thousand in the construction sector. While 16.7 percent of the employed were in the agricultural sector, 20.9 percent in the industry, 6.2 percent in the construction sector, 56.2 percent were in the service sector.   Young Population Unemployment Rise While the unemployment rate for the young population covering the 15-24 age group increased by 0.9 points compared to the same period of the previous year, it was 25.4 percent, while the employment rate decreased by 3.0 points to 29.6 percent. In the same period, the labor force participation rate decreased by 3.6 points and was recorded as 39.6 percent.
