Number of Bitcoin Investors Has Increased

The number of Bitcoin investors has increased. The number of Bitcoin investments has tripled since 2018.

A recent survey revealed that Bitcoin investments have attracted young US investors in terms of awareness, interest and investment over the past three years. Research by global analytics and consulting firm Gallup has proven that the number of investors holding BTC in the US has increased from 2 percent in 2018 to 6 percent in June 2021. The research defines “investors” as adults who have investments of $10,000 or more.

Increase Across Every Age Group

In addition, it was reported that among investors under the age of 50, those with Bitcoin investments have more than tripled in the last three years, reaching 13 percent. The researchers also said that Bitcoin's relatively modest stance can be compared to more mainstream investments. The survey said that 84 percent of the investors surveyed invested in stock index funds or mutual funds, 67 percent owned individual stocks and 50 percent owned bonds. The results of the survey came from the Gallup Investor Optimism Index survey conducted among 1,037 investors aged 18 and over in the United States between June 22-29, 2021. The study was weighted to be demographically representative of the US adult population with a maximum sampling error rate of ±5%. Other findings revealed that the perception of risk associated with Bitcoin decreased over the three-year period. Nearly all respondents consider BTC a risky investment, but the rate calling it “very risky” has dropped from 75 percent to 60 percent. While most of the remaining 35 percent thought Bitcoin was "somewhat risky", only a minority said it had no risk at all. Gallup expressed the view that investments in Bitcoin by well-known companies such as Tesla, Square and Morgan Stanley may provide more credibility to Bitcoin.
