The Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EMRA), according to data obtained from the 2019 Year Oil Market Sector Report, crude oil purchases constitute the largest item in total oil imports in Turkey was 53.7 percent to up to 31 million 73 thousand tons.
The highest amount of crude oil imports in 2019 was from Russia with 15 million 900 thousand tons, followed by Iraq with 9 million 526 thousand tons and Kazakhstan with 3 million 179 thousand tons.
In this period, diesel imports decreased by 20.7 percent and decreased to 10 million 901 thousand tons. The remaining part of the imports were aviation and marine fuels, fuel oil types and other products.
Accordingly, Turkey's total oil imports in 2019 increased by 18 percent compared to the previous year was 44 million 822 thousand 756 tons.
Exports Increased 60.9 Percent
Turkey's export of aviation fuel by an increased by 30.5 percent in 2019 to 5 million 56 tonnes . Marine fuel exports increased by 34.2 percent to 2 million 396 tons.
In this period, the export of diesel types increased by 35.3 percent to 2 million 121 thousand 842 tons, while the export of gasoline types increased by 21.8 percent to 2 million 972 thousand tons.
Thus, in the oil market, together with other products, total exports were recorded as 14 million 281 thousand tons with an increase of 60.9 percent.
38.8% Increase in Production
According to the report, diesel oil production increased by 46.8 percent to 13 million 642 thousand 113 tons, while gasoline production increased by 13.2 percent to 5 million 284 thousand 823 tons.
Aviation fuel production also increased by 24.6 percent to 5 million 964 thousand 837 tons.
Along with other fuel types, total refinery oil products increased by 38.8 percent in March compared to the same month of 2019 and reached 34 million 712 thousand tons.
In the report, while the sale of diesel types fell 4.4 percent in the period in question to 22 million 535 thousand 116 tons, gasoline sales increased by 3 percent to 2 million 399 thousand 341 tons.
Thus, in 2019, a decrease of 3.8 percent compared to the previous year's total oil product sales along with other products in Turkey fell to 26 million 737 thousand tons.
