One of the founders of Ethereum is leaving the cryptocurrency world. Anthony Di Iorio is partially concerned about personal safety.
Anthony Di Iorio, co-founder of Ethereum, said he will cut ties with the cryptocurrency world, in part due to personal security concerns.
The Canadian name, which plans to sell his company
Decentral next week, focusing on philanthropy and other non-crypto-related ventures, will leave other startups in time and will no longer invest in blockchain projects.
Di Iorio said, "There's a risk profile here that I don't like very much. I definitely don't feel safe. I think I'd be safer if I focused on bigger problems. I want to be known as a problem solver, not a cryptographer."
The famous entrepreneur was among the founders of Ethereum in 2013. Today, Ether has a market cap of $220 billion. Forbes wrote in February 2018 that Di Iorio's fortune was $1 billion. The ether price has also doubled since then.
Di Iorio touched on
cryptocurrency investments in a podcast he attended last month. The founder of Ethereum said that most of his investments are in Bitcoin, Ethereum, Polkadot and Cardano. Di Iorio said, "The majority of the investments are in Ethereum, Bitcoin, Polkadot and Cardano. There are a few more besides these, but I have no intention of getting lost in the whole DeFi world. I don't have the energy to devote time to all of these.”
