Onlyfans announced that "Sexually explicit behavior" will be prohibited

The Onlyfans platform is best known for sex clips. Porn actors, but also many other stars, upload videos and photos to their accounts there, which 130 million fans can subscribe to for money. But the nude photos and videos should now be over. The company, which is headquartered in London, wants a new path. Onlyfans announced in a statement: "Sexually explicit behavior" will be prohibited in the future. The new guidelines are to be enforced from October 1st. "In order to ensure the long-term sustainability of the platform and to continue to accommodate an integrative community of creators and fans, we have to develop our content guidelines further," it says in explanation. Onlyfans boss Tim Stokely said: "With these changes we are meeting the wishes of our banking partners and payment processors." It is unclear whether the service providers' concerns about the protection of minors are actually the only reason for the decision. However, the interest of investors in Onlyfans has recently declined. The new guidelines could have financial implications for countless users: a vast majority of users earn their money with revealing photos on the platform. The model was particularly attractive for porn actors. They could market themselves independently of large adult studios and keep 80 percent of the income to themselves. But onlyfans shouldn't be completely prudish. The company said that users who offer their content for a fee will still be able to post nude photos if they comply with the new guidelines. However, the exact restrictions are not yet known. According to the company, around two million creators could be affected by the stricter rules. However, according to their own statements, Onlyfans does not know exactly how high the proportion of users is who only earn money with explicit content on the platform. The site is also popular with celebrities: Aaron Carter, the brother of "Backstreet Boys" star Nick Carter, got naked there. Reality TV star Georgina Fleur also earns money by undressing on the platform. Singer Cardi B and model Lottie Moss also upload videos to Onlyfans - but no porn. The website was founded in 2016 - but saw an increase in users, especially during the pandemic.
