OYAK Will Join The Food Industry
OYAK will join the food industry. OYAK acquired brands such as Tadelle.
Having signed a purchase agreement with
Sanset Gıda, OYAK applied to the Competition Authority to incorporate Sagra, the leading brand in the chocolate products market in Turkey, as well as Tadelle, Saralle and Gol brands to OYAK Group Companies.
Pointing out that the importance of the agriculture and food sector has increased with the pandemic, OYAK General Manager Süleyman Savaş Erdem said, "We are already operating in the agricultural sector. We will grow in the food sector. We will carry Sagra, which has been a deep-rooted value for 85 years, further."
Pointing out that food is the market least affected by the pandemic, OYAK General Manager Süleyman Savaş Erdem said, “With the Covid-19 epidemic, the importance of the agriculture and food sector has increased in the world. We have seen that these non-cyclical sectors are not affected in times of crisis. We have serious investments in the agricultural sector. We also had the opportunity to demonstrate OYAK's determination and innovative perspective in the strategically important food industry. According to the data of the World Food Organization (FAO) in 2018, while 75 percent of the world's hazelnut production areas are located in Turkey, again in the same report, we see that only 60 percent of the hazelnut production is covered by
Turkey. We aim to increase productivity and grow this sector by using our R&D power in this field.”
Erdem continued his speech with the following words:
"We aim to bring the power of OYAK along with the 85 years of knowledge and experience of Sagra, to take the brand further, to increase the product range by utilizing the opportunities in the market, and to reach a significant volume, especially in food exports."
