Mobile phone brands delivered a total of 20.4 million device shipments that month, down 36.6 percent from the same month last year, recorded as 32.1 million, according to data from the Chinese Academy of Information and Communication Technologies. The drop in January was reported to be much larger than in the same month of last year, when sales fell 11.4 percent.
