Pinterest's advertising ban has been lifted. The Information Technologies and Communication Authority (BTK) decided to lift the ban after the social network provider Pinterest fulfilled its obligation to appoint and report a representative.
The Presidential Decision of the BTK on the Abolition of the Decision on Banning Advertising to the Social Network Provider named
Pinterest was published in the Official Gazette No. 31451 dated April 11, 2021.
According to this decision, the advertising ban dated January 19, 2021 was lifted after Pinterest fulfilled its obligation to appoint and report a representative regulated by the relevant law.
Last December, within the scope of social media regulation, it was informed that companies including social network providers such as Facebook, Youtube and Pinterest who refused to fulfill the requirement to have a representative in Turkey were fined 40 million TL in 2 months. In case of failure to comply with this requirement, the advertising ban, which is the third stage of the penalty, was passed in January.
Following this penalty, social network providers such as LinkedIN,
Facebook, Twitter decided to appoint representatives to Turkey.
