While no concrete steps were taken regarding the ceasefire at the meeting of the foreign ministers of Russia and Ukraine, Russian President Vladimir Putin pointed out that there were positive developments in the negotiations with Ukraine.

Putin told Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, "According to the negotiators on our side, there are certain positive developments."

Putin stated that the talks take place almost every day.

Putin also thanked Lukashenko for restoring the energy supply to the Chernobyl nuclear power plant.

The meeting of the ministers did not yield any results

The first high-level meeting between the two countries since the start of Russia's invasion of Ukraine was held in Antalya at the level of foreign ministers. In the talks, no progress was made in stopping the war and overcoming the differences of opinion.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitro Kuleba said at the press conference that he held after the meeting that lasted for 90 minutes, that he implied that the Russian side would continue its attacks until their demands are met. Expressing that Russia wants surrender from Ukraine, Kuleba stated that his country will not surrender and will defend itself.

While Kuleba stated that no progress was made in the talks on the ceasefire, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov noted at the press conference he held separately that the issue of the ceasefire was not on Russia's agenda in today's meeting, and mostly humanitarian issues were discussed.

When asked about the possibility of a meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, Lavrov stated that this issue was discussed at the meeting, but more preparation is needed for such a summit. Noting that Russia is open to serious talks between the two leaders, Lavrov said, "but these contacts should provide added value."

Lavrov added that Russia wants a "friendly, disarmed Ukraine".
