In Qatar, the host country of the FIFA World Cup 2022, construction work continues at full speed, especially in and around the capital Doha. Within the scope of the tourism mobilization initiated in the country, which aims to become one of the leading tourism centers in the world, more than 100 hotels have been put into service recently. Efforts have accelerated to accommodate 250 thousand people overnight in the country. It is expected that 1.5 million tourists will come to watch the tournament, which will start on November 21 and end on December 18.
It is stated that the money spent by Qatar, one of the centers of luxury life, on the World Cup infrastructure exceeds 6.5 billion dollars. It was noted that the cost of the 80,000-seat stadium built for the tournament reached 1 billion dollars. Turkish companies took part as main contractors or subcontractors in 3 of the 8 stadiums built. Some of the demounted stands that make up the stadiums will be sent to countries in need after the tournament. These stadiums will be donated, especially to countries on the African continent. The goal of the Qatari administration is to increase the tourism sector to 12 percent of GDP. It was stated that this goal is expected to be achieved in 8 years, with the addition of new hotels to the built hotels.
