Raise on Halk Ekmek Products in Istanbul! Raise on Halk Ekmek products in Istanbul. Istanbul Halk Ekmek Inc. has applied a price increase of 33 to 50 percent on products. Istanbul Halk Ekmek A.Ş. (IHE), an affiliate of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IBB). raised the price of bread and other bakery products. With the price update, the price of 250 grams of normal and whole wheat bread raised from 0.75 TL to 1 TL while 500 grams of whole wheat bread raised from 3.40 TL to 5 TL, golden buns raised from 0.5 TL to 0.75 TL, and 670 grams of toast bread raised from 4.50 TL to 5 TL. The İHE, which produces 40 types of bakery products, applied an average of 40 percent increase in products other than normal and whole wheat bread in September 2019.   'Price Regulation Has Been Inevitable' In the statement made by the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IBB), it was stated that Istanbul Halk Ekmek's last price regulation for normal and whole wheat bread was 2.5 years ago. In the statement in question, the following were recorded:  

''  Price of bread had to go up, which did not reflect the increase in flour and other cost expenses for 32 months. The price of flour, the main raw material of bread, rose 85 percent between February 2018 and September 2020. The price increase became necessary due to the increase in distribution, labor and energy costs, which are other important inputs in the cost of bread. In the last 32 months, electricity has increased by 133 percent, natural gas by 91 percent and workers' wages by 50 percent. It has become inevitable to make price adjustments in order to offer healthy and cheap bread to Istanbul residents. ''
