Record Interest Level in the Last 8 Years from the Hungarian Central Bank
The Hungarian National Bank raised interest rates. The bank increased the interest rate by 50 basis points from 5.4% to 5.9%. Estimates were for 6%. The Bank recorded an interest rate increase under expectations with a rate of 5.9%, the highest rate increase in the last 8 years.

Hungary continues to move at 9.5%, the highest level of the last 21 years. The Central Bank started the interest rate hike process in June due to the rise in inflation and increased the interest rate from 0.60% to 5.9% in the 12 meetings that followed.
Hungary is among the countries most affected by the Russian occupation of Ukraine due to its strategic location. This brings the balances in the country's economy to even more critical levels.
