Representation Expenses Will Not Be Reflected In The Electricity Bill
Representation expenses will not be reflected in the electricity bill. Expenses such as representation and hospitality will not be taken from the tariff.
Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EMRA) President Mustafa Yılmaz stated that EMRA's 2021-2025 tariff period studies have been completed.
Stating that the costs found in the previous tariff period (2016-2020) and the factors that will affect the service to the citizens were reviewed, Yılmaz listed the targets in the road map as follows:
"Increasing the quality of the network and eliminating the interruptions completely, reaching the targets in the fight against loss and leakage, increasing the maintenance and repair activities, increasing the employment with the right and effective investments."
The Public Opinion Made An Echo
Last week, the allegations that the representation-hospitality expenses were taken from the citizens by reflecting on the electricity bill had a great impact in the public opinion. Regarding the issue, Yılmaz noted that the issue of representation-hospitality expense was misrepresented to the public and used as a political material, and used the following statements:
“
EMRA did not make a price increase with this communiqué. The representation, hospitality expense and other items included in the communiqué have been included in the communiqués published in 2011 and 2016, and since the distribution services started, even before privatization, the expenses included in the financial legislation. In other words, it was not possible to add a new item to the tariffs, and we, as EMRA, imposed limitations and limits on these items.
It is not possible for us to take a step that will harm the rights of our consumers. We need to maintain trust in our industry and not give an opportunity to those who try to confuse our citizens with polemics. In order to prevent further exploitation of this issue, we are removing the provision that will cause false perceptions such as representation, hospitality, advertising, sponsorship, donation. Companies will not be able to get such expenses from the tariff and will not be able to generate income.”
Donations, sponsorship, advertising and promotion expenses, penalties, representation and hospitality expenses, advertisement and association dues expenses will not be included in the electricity distribution tariff from now on.
