Russia has reaffirmed the completion of the Nord Stream 2

Russia has reaffirmed the completion of the controversial Baltic Sea pipeline Nord Stream 2 despite US sanctions. "We are convinced that it (the management) will be completed regardless of the destructive action that we are observing on the part of the United States of America and which of course hinders the realization of this project," said Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Nowak on state television. The billion-dollar German-Russian gas project is now 95 percent complete and in the interests of European states and European companies. About a week ago, Nord Stream 2 AG started laying pipes again south of the Danish island of Bornholm. Construction had previously been suspended a year after threats of sanctions from the USA led to the withdrawal of special ships from a Swiss company at the end of 2019. The US is fighting the pipeline, which is supposed to transport 55 billion cubic meters of natural gas from Russia to Germany once a year, because they want to prevent Europe from becoming too dependent on Russian energy supplies. Proponents of the gas pipeline, on the other hand, have long accused the Americans of only wanting to sell their liquefied gas in Europe. Also because of Russia's dealings with the recently convicted Kremlin critic Alexei Navalny, critics are calling for Nord Stream 2 to be stopped.
