Russia Stops Natural Gas Flow to France

GRTGAZ, one of the largest natural gas distributor companies in France, including Europe, made important statements. While stating that the natural gas supplied by the Russian energy company Gazprom stopped flowing to France as of June 15, Italian ENI added that Gazprom will reduce the amount of natural gas exported by 50 percent.

France announced that they will not import natural gas from Russia. In the announcement made by GRTGAZ, it was stated that as of June 15, the gas supplied by the Russian energy company Gazprom will not be sent to France. In the statement, which was reported to have stopped the physical gas flow from Germany to France after Russia reduced its gas shipments via Nord Stream, it was said that France would no longer use Russian natural gas. It was stated that the gas stock of France increased from 50 percent to 56 percent, and that there would be no energy shortage in the country despite the interruption. France was importing 17 percent of its gas from Russia via pipeline and LNG ships. Russian gas giant Gazprom recently recorded that natural gas shipments via Nord Stream decreased from 167 million cubic meters per day to 67 million cubic meters. It was stated that the reason for the interruption was that some technical equipment sent to the German Siemens company for maintenance had not yet returned. Italia shipments also fell by 50 percent In addition, Italian ENI announced that it will reduce the amount of gas sent by Gazprom by 50 percent. ENI provided Gazprom with approximately 63 million cubic meters of gas demand per day, but Gazprom announced that they would only supply 50 percent of the demanded amount. Gazprom told ENI on Wednesday that it had reduced gas flow by 15 percent. ENI sources stated that they were not given a reason for the interruption and that the situation was closely monitored.
