Salary Raise Of Public Workers Has Been Determined
The salary raise of public workers has been determined in Turkey. Public workers were given a 12 percent raise for the first 6 months of 2021-2022.
The rate of increase in the wages of 700 thousand workers in the public sector has been announced.
Accordingly, the base wage of workers in the public sector was increased to 4 thousand 100 TL. Wages were increased by 12 percent for the first 6 months of 2021-2022, and by 5 percent for the other 6 months, plus the inflation difference.
Vedat Bilgin, Minister of Labor, announced the details. An improvement of 500 TL was made in the wages of public workers in the lowest wage group. Bilgin said, "There was a group of 315 thousand people, the majority of which were subcontracted workers, with very low wages and working at the minimum wage level. We made a 500 TL correction to their wages. This was very important. This group will also benefit from the increase rate reached after the collective agreement. The rate of increase for low wage earners will be 34.62%.”
Türk-İş and Hak-İş demanded an increase in the lowest gross wage to 4,800 TL, 20 percent for the first 6 months, and inflation plus 3 percent for the other 6 months in the 2021-2022 period.
Upon this proposal, on 8th of July, the government offered a raise of 100 TL for
workers with a gross wage of 3577-3750 TL, and 60 TL for those with a gross wage of between 3750-4000 TL, 9 percent for the first 6 months of the year, 5 percent plus inflation for the second 6 months, but the unions did not accept this offer.
