Samsung Invests in Metaverse to Enable Users to Experience Products Virtually
Samsung (KS:005930) today launched Space Tycoon, a virtual playground on global metaverse platform Roblox. The service is targeted at Generation Z customers. Space Tycoon will allow users to design Samsung products such as Galaxy smartphones, TVs and home appliances in their own style.
Samsung Electronics (OTC:SSNLF) launched its virtual playground Space Tycoon today on global metaverse platform Roblox.
In an earlier press release, Samsung announced that the playground, built within the Roblox ecosystem, will allow users to create and play games and use Samsung products in the metaverse. The technology company also announced that their target audience for the service is Generation Z customers.
Jinsoo Kim, Vice President of Samsung Electronics Corporate Design Center, said, "We wanted to give our Gen Z customers a chance to experience Samsung products in a way they never have before. We will continue to showcase content that can provide more meaningful and fun digital experiences for both current and future customers."
Space Tycoon takes place on the Samsung Space Station and in the research lab where alien characters research the tech company's latest products. There are three game areas: the Mining Zone for resource procurement, the Store for in-game product purchases, and the Lab for product production.
The virtual world will allow users to design their own interpretations of Samsung products such as Galaxy smartphones, TVs and home appliances. The platform will also test users' creativity, allowing real-life products to be given a makeover in Space Tycoon.
As an example, the bulletin includes the following statements:
The foldable smartphone Galaxy Z Flip can turn into a purse or a scooter, just as users will get more creative with the Jet Bot vacuum cleaner turning into a hoverboard or the Sero lifestyle TV into a one-seater helicopter.
Space Tycoon will be available in 14 languages, including the world's most spoken languages such as English, Chinese and Spanish. According to the announcement, new features will be added in the future, including social interaction between users.
