The National Association of Realtors (NAR) announced second-hand home sales data for January.
Accordingly, second-hand house sales in the country increased by 6.7 percent on a monthly basis, in seasonally adjusted terms, to 6.5 million.
Contrary to expectations, second-hand house sales, which increased in this period, were expected to decrease by 1 percent to 6.1 million. Used home sales decreased by 3.8 percent in December last year to 6.09 million.
Second-hand house sales in the country decreased by 2.3 percent in January compared to the same month of the previous year.
The median house prices in the second-hand market in the USA increased by 15.4 percent on an annual basis in January, reaching 350,300 dollars.
NAR Chief Economist Lawrence Yun, whose views were included in the statement, stated that house prices continue to rise strongly.
Pointing out that the housing stock in the market is depleted, Yun said that there is a need for housing supply.
