Shmyhal: Turkey is Our Friend and a Reliable Partner
Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal, spoke before his visit to Turkey. Shmyhal said, “Turkey is our friend and a reliable partner”
Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal, will be in Turkey today for a two-day working visit. Speaking before the visit to Turkey Prime Minister Shmyhal stated, the contacts between Turkey and Ukraine is further increased during the outbreak.
Indicating that Turkey and Ukraine has enormous potential to collaborate on high-tech based areas, Shmyhal, said:
“Ukraine wants to improve commercial and economic relations. Our trade volume continues to increase despite the
coronavirus restrictions. ''

Ukrainian Prime Minister Shmyhal, stressed that they see Turkey as an important partner in the geopolitical issues and has used the following phrases:
“Turkey's supports sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, our efforts to free the occupation on Crimea. We have mutual understanding regarding all issues on our agenda. Without hesitation, we can characterize the Republic of Turkey as our partner and our friend.”
Noting that Ukraine needs much more foreign investment, Shmyhal continued as follows:
“In the first 2 quarters of 2020, investment outflows were made from our country with the effect of the global conjuncture. Major privatizations for public companies are planned next year. It will cover the energy, chemical industry and machinery manufacturing sectors. We also see great potential for Turkish companies in infrastructure projects, seaports and telecommunications. Our government has created favorable conditions for foreign companies to invest profitably in Ukraine and to eliminate concerns about bureaucracy and property rights. Our delegation will meet with the Turkish business world during the visit. We will explain in detail the new investment opportunities in Ukraine.”
'Free Trade Will Be Sooner Or Later'
Reminding that the negotiations for the free trade agreement between Turkey and Ukraine is ongoing Prime Minister Shmyhal said the following on the subject:
“It is very important to create balance and to heed the warnings of business representatives. the biggest drawback of Ukrainian producers, the application of additional protective measures to restrict Turkey's imports. We expect a recovery in bilateral trade. Of course, the agreement will not come into full force immediately after signing. Some time will be required for legal procedures to be completed. But I believe that sooner or later we will definitely get to this point. ''
