Sir Richard Branson: we can make ‘amazing’ space travel with Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos
Even in a day when he spent millions of dollars to make the genetic testing company 23andMe public through a SPAC, the great space race is still puzzling the mind of billionaire businessman Sir Richard Branson.
In his statement to Yahoo Finance Live, Branson said that the next flight was penned around Valentine’s Day and hoping there will be another test flight and then he will join that flight. Branson explained that it took them 16 years to reach this stage and he was very excited about it.
Branson thinks the rivalry between the three business giants is good for space exploration.
“ Elon (Musk) and Jeff (Bezos) are 2 big competitors and they’re doing something a little different,
if we put this three big projects together, they could all achieve incredible things,” he said.
Undoubtedly, Branson is a great thoughtful and well-funded businessman in the space travel industry.
Branson founded Virgin Galactic in 2004 with the goal of taking those who paid for this experience into space. To realize this dream, he opened the company to the public in 2019 and market value of Virgin reach over 13 billion in hopes of Branson fulfilling the mission.
Virgin’s efforts did not come cheap.
The company recorded a loss of less than $ 200 million for the nine-month period ending September 30, reaching a net operating flow inflow of $ 162 million during this period.
And of course, Branson isn’t the only billionaire eyeing space.
Tesla CEO Elon Musk had great success launching SpaceX rockets to reach Mars. Meanwhile, Amazon’s founder Jeff Bezos continues on Blue Origin to compete with Virgin in the suborbital space tourism industry.
Bezos stepping down as CEO of Amazon this summer could accelerate Blue Origin’s space efforts, which have lacked the public glitz of Virgin and SpaceX.
Branson thinks these 3 giant companies, along with him, are good for space exploration.
Elon [Musk] and Jeff [Bezos] agree that we have 2 very, very big competitors, Branson stated that he believes that by bringing these 3 projects together, they can do incredible things and achieve incredible success.
