Social Business Network LinkedIn Will Appoint a Representative to Turkey

Social business network LinkedIn will appoint a representative to Turkey. Deputy Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure Fatih Sayan announced LinkedIn would also appoint a representative to Turkey. Ömer Fatih Sayan, Deputy Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, announced the news on his Twitter account. Sayan reminded that according to the Law No. 7253 "Amending the Law on Regulating Broadcasts on the Internet and Combating Crimes Committed Through These Broadcasts", also known as the "Social Media Law", companies that have a foreign origin and has a daily access over 1 million in Turkey has to appoint their representatives until November 2. Stating that VK, Google (Youtube), TikTok and Dailymotion appointed representatives after the law was put into effect, Sayan said, “Days before the advertisement ban application is published in the Official Gazette, LinkedIn will appoint a representative to our country. Social network providers' representative notifications make us happy. We expect the same sensitivity from other providers.” Stating that citizens of Turkey can directly convey their complaints such as harassment, cyberbullying, fake account, violation of privacy, Sayan said that just like the citizens of the European Union, the providers will solve the demands of the citizens in the fastest way. Saying, “Our call to the providers is to assign their representatives to our country without the penalty of advertising ban or bandwith limitation”. Sayan explained that the implementation of the advertising ban will be supervised by the Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency (BRSA), the Central Bank, the Ministry of Treasury and the Tax Inspection Board of the Ministry of Finance. Pointing out that companies that advertise on social media networks that refuse to appoint a representative will also be penalized, Sayan said, “As we have stated before, our aim is that neither social network providers nor our citizens are deprived of the services provided in our country.”     Source: AA
