Starbucks is celebrating its fiftieth anniversary with a limited edition of cups
Three friends and coffee lovers, English teacher Jerry Baldwin, history teacher Zev Siegl and writer Gordon Bowker, were involved in the creation of a chain of roasting and café brands. They opened a coffee bean shop and coffee makers in Seattle. However, the company's worldwide success came only after the company was taken over by businessman
Howard Schultz, thanks to whom coffee was also brewed at Starbucks.
The founders of the roastery originally rejected Schultz's plan, arguing that coffee was still brewed and drunk at home. But Schultz did not give up. In 1985, he first opened his own chain, Il Giornale, where he brewed coffee from Starbucks, and two years later simply bought Starbucks.
In the same year, Schultz opened the first store outside Seattle, Vancouver and Chicago, and also changed the logo. This change was related to the beginning of the expansion of the company, which at the end of the turning point of 1987 had only 17 establishments.
The boom outside North America was started by the company in 1996 in Tokyo, followed by cafes in Singapore, Bangkok and other places in Asia. In Europe, Starbucks first appeared in Britain in 1998. Starbucks entered the stock exchange in 1992.
In addition to the classic Starbucks coffee shops, the brand also has several subsidiaries called Reserve Roastery, which offer selected coffee. They currently operate in New York, Shanghai, Milan,
Tokyo, Chicago and Seattle.
To mark its 50th anniversary, Starbucks has launched a limited edition coffee mug. These will be available in several color variants and customers can choose between a classic mug or a thermo mug for coffee with them.
