Parliament has to approve it for the extension of the state of emergency, which is valid for 15 days under Spanish law. Stating that the government's plan is to extend the state of emergency for about 6 months, Prime Minister Sanchez said, “We will present a motion to the parliament to extend the state of emergency until May 9. The pandemic is a state issue, we expect the support of all political groups. '' Prime Minister Sanchez underlined that they made the decision to declare a state of emergency by taking the demands and expert opinions of 10 of the 17 autonomous administrations in the country. Stating that the second wave of the coronavirus (Covid-19) epidemic was very intense in Spain and the rest of Europe, Sanchez said, “The situation is very serious. We approve of the state of emergency as it is the most effective tool in combating the virus.
