A statement on "
broadcasting rights" came from
TFF President Özdemir. Nihat Özdemir, who made a statement upon the acceptance of the executives of the Economy Correspondents Association, pointed out that all clubs except 4-5 competing in the Super League have debts, "For those who do not have a debt, the presidents keep their clubs barely standing by putting money from their own pockets. The other teams have debts, but they have less income."
President of Turkish Football Federation Özdemir, who listed the teams that do not have money problems in the Super League and who are completely within their budgets, said, “There is Göztepe, its owner is also a businessman. There is Alanya which uses the economy effectively. Sivasspor, for example, has no debt. All of them have debt except 4-5. The big 4 have debts. The current administrators have not done this, these debts have accumulated over time. Medipol Başakşehir became the champion last year. Staying within the budget, it came to this day with a smart financial management.”
The Loss Of The Epidemic is 1.2 Billion TL
President Nihat Özdemir stated that the clubs had a loss of 1.2 billion TL due to the coronavirus epidemic process and the movement in the currency.
Noting that the clubs' revenues decreased by 30-40 percent, Özdemir said, "Due to the pandemic and the increase in exchange rates, the income of 21 clubs decreased by 1.2 billion liras."
A New Tender for Publication Rights
Nihat Özdemir stated that they will be bidding for the right to broadcast football matches in 2021.
Özdemir continued his explanations on the subject as follows:
“Our goal is to increase the revenues of the clubs again. The contract of the broadcaster is running out. Turkey has a large population. We will invite all broadcasters around the world to bid. We will make a new publication tender. In the period between June and December this year, we will prepare the file, put out the tender and invite everyone. If the pandemic is on the way to recovery and if we can make a tender to increase revenues, the financial conditions of our clubs can improve.”
