Stock Exchange Closes at Record High
In Borsa Istanbul, the BIST 100 index gained 1.34 percent with record trading volume and recorded an all-time high closing of 3,020.01 points.
While the BIST 100 index increased by 40.01 points compared to the previous close, the total transaction volume reached a record level of 87.1 billion liras. Thus, BIST 100 carried its highest level record to 3,033.81 points.
The banking index lost 0.47 percent. The holding index increased by 1.76 percent. Among the sector indices, the highest gainer was the main metal industry with 4.48 percent and the highest loser was trade with 2.99 percent.
Analysts noted that the BIST 100 index continued to diverge positively from the world's major stock markets after the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey (CBRT) decided to cut interest rates by 100 basis points.
Stating that the domestic data agenda will be calm for the next day, while inflation in Japan, retail sales in the UK and Producer Price Index (PPI) data in Germany will be followed abroad, analysts stated that technically, 3,040 and 3,070 levels may become resistance and 2,950 points may become support in the BIST 100 index.
Analysts underlined that sector and
stock-based divergences continue due to the ongoing announcement of company financial results, while emphasizing that volatility has increased and investors should act cautiously.
