Stock market remained flat in the first half of the day
The BIST 100 index in Borsa Istanbul decreased by 0.02 percent to 3,446.26 points in the first half of the day.
In the first half of the day, the BIST 100 index decreased by 0.70 points to 3,446.26 as of 13:00 compared to the previous close. Total transaction volume amounted to 40.3 billion liras.
In the first half, the banking index lost 8.32 percent, while the holding index gained 2.47 percent.
Among the sector indices, financial leasing and factoring gained the most with 3.53 percent, while banking index declined the most.
Meanwhile, in a statement made by Borsa Istanbul, it was reported that the upward step rule in short selling transactions introduced yesterday for the shares in the BIST 50 index will also be applied in today's session.
Analysts said that volatility has increased in global markets due to inflation, recession and concerns that the US Federal Reserve (Fed) will maintain its "hawkish" stance at next week's meeting.
Emphasizing that the volatile course in the markets may continue until the Fed's meeting, analysts reported that industrial production, capacity utilization rate and retail sales in the US will stand out on the data agenda in the afternoon.
Analysts stated that technically, 3,360 and 3,280 levels in the BIST 100 index are support, 3,500 and 3,550 points are resistance.
