Stock market started the day with a decrease on January 15. In Borsa Istanbul, the BIST 100 index lost 0.63 percent and started 1.536.82 points. At the beginning of the day, the BIST 100 index, which decreased by 9.78 points and 0.63 percent compared to its previous closing, fell to 1.536.82 points. At the opening, the banking index decreased by 1.03 percent and the holding index by 0.55 percent. Among the sector indices, tourism earned the most with 1.51 percent, and banking was the most declining. The BIST 100 index, which recorded its highest level with 1.568.06 points on Thursday, started to lose value with profit sales following this level. The index lost 0.81 percent compared to the previous close and ended the day with 1.546.60 points. The President of the Federal Reserve (FED), Jerome Powell, stated in a statement yesterday evening that they will not increase interest rates unless they see a problem with inflation and used the following statements: “We will definitely do that when the time comes to raise interest rates, but this time is not near.” Emphasizing that they will definitely announce this in advance when it comes to a situation such as an increase in interest rates. US 10-year bond interest rates fell below 1.10 percent from 1.1280 percent. In addition, a $ 1.9 trillion stimulus package was announced in the USA. Analysts stated that despite vaccination practices, the number of coronavirus cases has increased worldwide, which lowers the global risk appetite. Today's short-term domestic debt statistics and Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey’s (CBRT) expectations survey will be monitored domestically, while industrial production and retail sales data will be monitored in the United States. In technical terms, analysts stated that 1.550 and 1.580 levels are in the resistance position and 1.500 level is in the support position for the BIST 100 index.
