At the beginning of the day, the BIST 100 index gained 7.35 points and 0.66 percent and reached 1.119.72 points.
While the banking index gained 0.80 percent at the opening, the holding index gained 0.03 percent. Among the industry indices, forest, paper and printing were the most profitable with 3.98 percent, while the only decline was recorded on sports with 0.10 percent.
The BIST 100 index, which was negatively affected by the upward trend of exchange rates and the decrease in the global risk appetite, recorded a decrease of 6.57 percent week on week. BIST 100 index, which fell 1.30 on Friday, closed the day with 1,112.37 points and ended October with a 2.87 percent decrease compared to the previous month.
Analysts, stating that the US presidential elections to be held tomorrow are at the center of the markets, said Democrat Joe Biden was 7.2 points ahead of his Republican opponent Donald Trump, according to the survey results at the weekend.
Emphasizing that an intense data agenda will be followed this week, analysts said that the manufacturing Industry Purchasing Managers Index (PMI) will be announced worldwide today, domestic inflation tomorrow, the US Federal Reserve (FED) and the Bank of England (BoE) interest decisions on Friday. Analysts reminded that the October employment report of the United States, which will be published on September, will be monitored.
From a technical point of view, analysts stated that the level of 1.110 in the BIST 100 index is critical in terms of the medium-term outlook, and that it should be monitored whether the level of 1.140 can be exceeded during the rise.
