Tesla would accept more environmentally friendly bitcoin
Bitcoin strengthened sharply and its price was just under 40,000 USD (32,989.69 euros) on Monday morning. The cryptomen market was again influenced by the statements of Tesla boss Elon Musk, who indicated on Sunday that Tesla could start accepting bitcoin again in the future if its mining is more environmentally friendly.
According to CoinMarketCap, the largest and most famous cryptocurrency was sold on Monday, with a plus of more than 12 percent (within 24 hours) of USD 39,363.50. It has strengthened by about a third since the beginning of the year, although its current price is well below the record of $ 64,829.14 in April.
Other cryptocurrencies also increased, albeit to a lesser extent.
Ethereum was approximately 7 percent in plus, dogecoin more than 5, and XRP 6.5 percent.
Musk said on Sunday that Tesla would start accepting bitcoin again if at least 50 percent of cryptocurrency production fell "on clean energy with a positive trend for the future."
Tesla stopped accepting bitcoins when paying for its electric cars in mid-May. Musk then cited as a reason the high electricity consumption in bitcoin mining and its negative environmental consequences. Tesla announced the acceptance of bitcoin less than two months earlier.
"The market went through another round of correction over the weekend, while
Elon Musk's tweet of re-accepting BTC when buying Tesla did not change the mood," said CoinGecko co-founder Bobby Ong. He said Bitcoin was also supported by the news that MicroStrategy had raised half a billion dollars to buy bitcoin.
