The Collapse Of Aviation Could Lead To The Loss Of 46 Million Jobs
The collapse of aviation due to the new coronavirus pandemic could lead to the loss of almost 46 million jobs worldwide.
This is pointed out in the latest report of the Air Transport Action Group (ATAG).
According to
ATAG, a collapse in air transport as a result of a pandemic can (at least for some time) eliminate more than half of the total 88 million jobs that depend on air transport.
A large number of experts in this sector assume that the recovery in air transport to pre-pandemic levels will not take place until 2024.
Around 4.8 million people can lose their jobs by early next year alone, in airlines, at airports or in airline companies, according to an ATAG report based on
Oxford Economics analyzes.
Another 26 million jobs could be lost in air tourism.
The remaining approximately 15 million positions may be lost in companies whose goods and services depend on air transport and employees in this sector.
