The Competition Board of Turkey fined
Google 296.1 million TL within the scope of the investigation, which was initiated on the grounds that it abused its dominant position in the general search services market and highlighted its local search and accommodation price comparison services to exclude its competitors.
The statement made by the institution on the subject was as follows:
"The economic integrity of
Google consisting of Google Reklamcılık ve Pazarlama Ltd. Şti., Google International LLC, Google LLC, Google Ireland Limited and Alphabet Inc. abuses its dominant position in the market for general search services, promoting its local search and accommodation price comparison services in a way that excludes competitors. The investigation into the allegation has been completed.
As a result of the negotiation of the file by the Competition Board on 08.04.2021, it was decided that Google violated Article 6 of the Law on the Protection of Competition numbered 4054, and therefore an administrative fine was imposed on the mentioned economic integrity.
