As of today, the fuel price has been reduced, which will not be reflected in the pump prices.
This week, a regulation was made to increase the special consumption tax (SCT) on fuel products by the amount of the decrease in the prices of products in foreign currency. The first tax increase after the regulation came today.
According to the regulation, the decreases in fuel prices due to foreign currency would not be reflected at the pump until the SCT amount reached the level determined in the legislation.
In the statement made by the Energy Oil Gas Supply Stations Employers' Union (EPGIS), it was said:
"As of December 24, a reduction of 1.63 TL per liter in gasoline and 1.65 TL per liter in diesel has been made. There will be no change in pump prices as the SCT has increased as much as the discount rate."
On the other hand, after the sharp decline in the dollar, EPGIS President Fesih Aktaş said, "We expect a serious decrease in fuel prices in a short time. I think the decrease in fuel prices will reach 15 percent. The steps have positively affected the market."
