The İstanbul Solution to the World Food Crisis

Through the center to be established in Istanbul under the coordination of the UN, 20 million tons of grain from Ukraine and Russia will be offered to global markets.

The Istanbul Solution to the World Food Crisis. According to sources close to the subject, the efforts of Turkey, which has been conducting diplomatic traffic for a while, to establish a mechanism to ensure that the grain stocks in Ukraine reach the global markets safely, yielded results. A solution was found under the umbrella of the United Nations (UN) for the global food crisis that emerged due to the Russia-Ukraine war. Transferring 20 million tons of grain from Ukraine and Russia to global markets through the center planned to be established in Turkey, which undertakes the task of mediating between Russia and Ukraine, was taken into consideration. It has been learned that the parties will come together in Istanbul in the coming days and will evaluate issues such as the cleaning of sea mines in the region, the route, insurance and safety of the ships. With the mechanism in which Ukraine and Russia approach the solution plan positively, mines will be cleared around the ports in the Black Sea, and the grain stock will reach foreign markets safely.
