The Next Summit Of G20 Will Be Chaired By King Salman
The next summit of G20, the leaders of the world's strongest economies will take place virtually on 21 and 22 November and will be chaired by King Salman of Saudi Arabia.
Initially, G20 leaders were scheduled to meet in the Saudi capital, Riyadh, but these plans were thwarted by a coronavirus pandemic. The kingdom reported on Monday.
As stated in the statement, the forthcoming summit of G20 leaders will focus on protecting lives and restoring economic growth. Leaders will seek to find the weaknesses that the current crisis has helped uncover and lay the groundwork for a better future.
Saudi Arabia has recently been trying to repair a tarnished reputation in the world. In particular, respect for human rights is one of the worst in the world, with freedom of expression severely restricted in Saudi Arabia and government critics becoming arbitrary arrests.
As the human rights organization Amnesty International said a few months ago, a record 184 people were executed in Saudi Arabia last year.
