The Number Of Unemployed In Germany Dropped Unexpectedly In November
The number of unemployed in Germany dropped unexpectedly in November, despite a partial restriction of movement, the so-called lockdown, to stop the second wave of the pandemic in Europe's largest economy. The Federal Labor Office informed about it on Tuesday.
According to the latest figures, the number of unemployed people in
Germany, after adjusting for seasonal effects, fell by 39,000 to 2.817 million in November. Analysts predicted an increase of 8000.
The unemployment rate thus fell slightly to 6.1% from 6.2% in the previous month and reached its lowest level since April.
The Federal Labor Office also said that the number of part-time people to whom the government contributes to wages as part of its Kurarbeit Employment Maintenance Program fell to 2.22 million in September from around 2.6 million in August and almost 6 million in April, when the first wave of the
pandemic culminated.
