The Oetker Group Is Strengthening Its Express Beverage Delivery Business
The Oetker Group is strengthening its express beverage delivery business with an acquisition.As the Dr.August Oetker KG announced that it will take over the delivery service Flaschenpost SE, which is to complement the delivery company Durstexpress belonging to the Oetker subsidiary Radeberger.Both parties have agreed not to disclose the purchase price.According to information from the information service "Deutsche Startups.de", the purchase price is one billion euros.The contracts were signed on October 30th and the transaction has yet to be approved by the antitrust authorities.The startup Flaschenpost, founded in 2016, claims to be delivering drinks to customers in 23 cities within 120 minutes.A company spokesman emphasized that Oetker sees a very good future for online delivery services and has therefore decided to buy.Durstexpress and Flaschenpost complement each other geographically.While Durstexpress developed its activities primarily from Berlin and the eastern federal states, Flaschenpost did so from North Rhine-Westphalia, said Oetker.The expanded delivery company will be headed from the headquarters in Berlin and Münster by a board of directors made up of the management teams from both Durstexpress and Flaschenpost.The Oetker Group has a broad base: In addition to baking ingredients, pizza and pudding powder, breweries such as Radeberger and hotels also belong to the company, which has around 400 companies (Dr. Oetker, Conditorei Coppenrath, Henkell Freixenet).For some time now, Oetker has been experimenting with its own delivery services for cakes and beer as well as with trading platforms and has invested in startups.
