The reorganized Alitalia would like to resume operations

The Italian airline Alitalia will start flying again after its reorganization and renaming. It is estimated that it will deploy approximately 45 aircraft and will have approximately 4,500 employees. Alitalia will receive just over a billion euros in support from the state, which is less than half the amount it wanted. La Repubblica newspaper reported on Tuesday. The new Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi met on Monday with the ministers of transport, economy, industry and labor in an effort to find a quick solution, but not at any cost, the article states. The government office declined to comment. The previous government of Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte has set aside three billion euros for a new airline called ITA to replace Alitalia. He has been in forced administration since the declaration of bankruptcy in 2017. According to La Repubblica, ITA will acquire all Alitalia's aircraft, staff and routes. It plans to start operation in late April to take advantage of the upcoming summer season. The newspaper Il Sole 24 Ore claims that the Italian airline will start operating services after June 1 after the reorganization. And according to the daily Il Giornale, the new airline could start with 43 to 45 aircraft and 2500-3000 employees of its predecessor and could receive state aid in the range of 1-2 billion euros. However, the resumption of the Italian national carrier requires the consent of the European Commission, which has requested an open tender for Alitalia's assets. And it is pushing for the new airline to leave the old brand and give up some take-off and landing intervals. The Italian government, which said last week that it wanted to continue the nationalization of the carrier, is to meet with representatives from Brussels on Friday, the newspaper added.
