The UK Will Cease To Apply Anti-dumping Duties On American Goods
The United Kingdom (UK) will cease to apply anti-dumping duties on American goods on 1 January.
This was announced on Tuesday by the Minister of International Trade Liz Truss. The BBC informs about it.
The EU introduced a special 25 percent duty on US goods worth $ 4 billion a year in November.
The move was a retaliation for state aid to aircraft manufacturer Boeing. The World Trade Organization (WTO) has called it unfair.
The transitional period, in which Britain is still governed by EU law, ends on 1 January.
"Thanks to the fact that we are becoming a country that will again decide on its trade matters independently, we are finally able to work with these tariffs," the minister said. She added that London wants to reach a compromise in the subsidy dispute.
In a long-running dispute over state aid drawn by
Boeing in the US and its European competitor Airbus in the EU, the WTO last year allowed Washington to impose $ 7.5 billion in tariffs on EU imports.
This October, the
WTO again ruled in favor of the union, stating that the United States had provided illegal subsidies to Boeing.
