There are some pretty drastic turns coming from Apple to Epic Games. Epic stated that Apple is currently attacking them from all fronts and making heavy threats to the future of the company. Interesting developments are taking place in Epic Games' war against Apple and Google. In an official statement today, Epic stated that they received a threat from Apple that their App Store licenses will be revoked if they do not update Fortnite within two weeks according to Apple's wishes.
The statement shared by Epic via Twitter used the following statements:
"Apple removed Fortnite from the App Store and stated that by Friday, August 28, all of our developer accounts will be removed and Epic's access to iOS and Mac developer tools will be completely blocked. We request the court to stop this retaliation."
Epic's activities in the App Store are not limited to Fortnite. The Unreal Engine game engine currently has a very large pool in mobile spaces. Apple's revocation of Epic's license also means that new models of Unreal Engine will not be available in the App Store. Especially, this situation seems to have worried Epic at the moment.
Commenting on the matter, Epic said, "Apple is not only removing Fortnite from the App Store, but instead attacking all of Epic's activities from unrelated areas. Epic will likely be right in the case, but if Apple's instructions are not followed immediately, until the final verdict comes from the case. Epic will already be damaged irreparably. " .
