The World Expo 2020 officially opened in Dubai
Thursday's grand ceremony officially opened the World Expo 2020 held in Dubai. The gates of the exhibition center, which covers more than four square kilometers with expositions where it presents itself on 191 countries, have also already officially opened.
Dubai's Vasl Plaza hosted the opening ceremony of the Expo 2020 world exhibition, which was attended only by invited guests. However, the launch could be monitored on streaming platforms.
The building at Vasl Plaza is the heart of the Expo 2020 complex and includes a 130-meter-wide and over 67-meter-high dome, which served as a screen for laser projection.
In addition to concerts by famous artists and a live orchestra, the dome of Al Wasl Plaza, the largest 360-degree screen in the world, featured a sensory show full of visual effects.
More than three thousand lighting devices, a thousand speakers and more than a thousand performers and volunteers contributed to the artistic spectacle, which was not missed by almost a million spectators online.
Another light show was held on Friday evening, October 1st. The fireworks show was held after 8 pm local time, when Dubai Festival City, The Frame, The Pointe and Palm Jumeirah malls and entertainment venues each introduced their own unique concepts.
The list of locations where the opening ceremony was broadcast also includes more than 240 hotels across the country. In addition, the experience will be transmitted to dozens of commercial and other institutions and the Dubai International Airport.
Already, however, the
UAE State Secretary for International Cooperation and the Director-General of Expo 2020 Dubai Her Excellency Reem Al Hashima unveiled a memorial that pays tribute to the 200,000 workers who helped build the complex.
"We wanted to appreciate the incredible work of more than 200,000 employees and their contribution to Expo 2020 in Dubai. Thank you all for the huge effort they have made here, "said the director.
