There was a massive explosion on the Ukrainian section of the gas pipeline, which also supplies natural gas to European countries, on Saturday, the Ukrinform agency reported.
40 firefighters were sent to the site of the explosion - near the village of Chalepci in the Poltava region, located in the central-eastern part of Ukraine.
So far, there are no reports of victims and injuries. The surrounding villages are also in danger. The cause of the explosion and the extent of the damage are not yet known.
According to the DPA agency, eyewitnesses publish videos of a large fireball in the sky on social networks.
Although the network operator Ukrtransgaz warned the inhabitants of the town of Lubny in the
Poltava region that there could be outages in gas supply, supplies to Europe should not be limited.
