TL Continues to Depreciate Against US Dollar and Euro
TL continues to depreciate against US Dollar and Euro. Dollar / TL and Euro / TL are at the top again. While the rise in the US Dollar and Euro rate continues today, it broke a new record. The
USD / TL rate, which rose to the level of 7.56 yesterday, rose to 7.57 today. EUR / TL, on the other hand, refreshed the record with the level of 8.98. Basket currency surpassed 8.26, reaching an all-time high.
Exchange rates, which have gradually gained value since January 1, 2020, accelerated their rise after May. Despite the depreciation of the US dollar in global markets due to the coronavirus epidemic and politics, the Turkish Lira, which has passed this period with a decline, sees the lowest levels in history this week.
After the announcement of the new monetary policy strategy of the
US Federal Reserve (Fed), as a result of the decision of the ECB meeting, which was turned away, the US Dollar Index, which exceeded the 93.60 level, fell back to the level of 93.0. However, the US Dollar Index experienced a slight increase against the currencies of developing countries, but the TL is still negatively diverging today.
The result of the PPK meeting to be held next week will be the center of attention. However, this week's pricing indicates that there will be no rate increase.
