Toyota Warned Apple About Making Cars
Toyota warned Apple about making cars. Tech giant Apple, known for its smartphones, had decided to produce cars.
Recently, as technology companies have started to enter the automotive sector, a voice has been raised from the automotive sector. Toyota Chairman
Akio Toyoda warned Apple that selling cars is a bigger challenge than producing the necessary technology in the automotive industry.
Speaking at the press conference of the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association, Toyoda said, "The automotive industry always welcomes new entrants."
He said that after producing cars, manufacturers should be prepared to deal with the customer.
While it is estimated that it will take about 5 years for
Apple to produce its first car, it is said that the smartphone manufacturer technology giant has already shaken the automotive industry.
Wolkswagen Welcomes Competition
While Toyota and Volkswagen did not worry much about the new actors compared to other companies, Volkswagen CEO Herbert Diess stated that he was not afraid of Apple's entry into the market. Diess stated that the automotive industry is different from the technology sector, said "Apple will not be able to take over the sector overnight."
Stating that the entry of new technology companies will bring a new breath to the automotive industry, Toyoda said:
"But these entries should be fair to customers. These companies should take full responsibility for the life cycle of the vehicles they produce, from maintenance to return to scrap."
