Treasury and Finance Minister Lütfi Elvan Resigned
Treasury and Finance Minister Lütfi Elvan resigned. Deputy Minister Nureddin Nebati was appointed instead.
There was also a change of duties in the Ministry of Treasury and Finance in 2021. With the decision published in the Official Gazette, it was announced that
Lütfi Elvan left the Ministry of Treasury and Finance. Deputy Minister Nureddin Nebati was appointed to replace Elvan.
Elvan was appointed as a minister last year after Berat Albayrak resigned from his position.
Nureddin Nebati, who was appointed to the Ministry of Treasury and Finance last week, said, " This time, we are determined to implement our low interest policy.” Nebati said in his statement, "We need to evaluate the Turkish economy from a large perspective instead of a narrow perspective based only on the exchange rate. High employment, high exports, low current account deficit and low foreign debt are targeted in the main policy axis based on low interest and high production volume, instead of a macroeconomic approach based only on interest and exchange rate.”
Who is Nureddin Nabati?
Nureddin Nebati, who was appointed as the Minister of Treasury and Finance, was born on January 1, 1964 in Viranşehir, Şanlıurfa.
After graduating from Istanbul University, Faculty of Political Sciences, Department of Public Administration, Nebati completed his master's degree in International Relations at the Social Sciences Institute of the same university. He received his PhD in Political Science and Public Administration from Kocaeli University, Institute of Social Sciences.
Nebati was a member of the MUSIAD Headquarters Board of Directors and the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce (ITO) Disciplinary Board. He is still a member of MUSIAD High Advisory Board.
Nabati, who was elected as a Member of MKYK at the 4th Ordinary Congress of the AK Party, served as the Head of Financial and Administrative Affairs and Deputy Chairman of the AK Party Headquarters between 2014 and 2015. Nabati was elected as an Istanbul Deputy in the 24th term and a Şanlıurfa deputy in the 25th term. Nabati speaks intermediate English and a little Arabic. He is married and has 4 children.
