Trendyol Became Turkey's First Decacorn

Trendyol became Turkey's first Decacorn. Trendyol exceeded a valuation of 10 billion dollars and became the first Decacorn of the country.

According to the statement made by the company, it received an investment of $ 1.5 billion in the new round. Thus, while Trendyol's valuation increased to 16.5 billion dollars, the company rose to the 'decacorn' category, which is used for companies with a valuation exceeding 10 billion dollars. Princeville, ADQ and Qatar Investment Authority participated in the latest investment round. While the transaction was led by the American General Atlantic and Softbank Vision Fund 2, Citi acted as the exclusive advisor of Trendyol in this transaction. Trendyol's current investor, Alibaba, also made an additional $350 million investment in the company earlier this year. SoftBank Investment Advisers, ADQ and Princeville Capital made their first investments in Turkey with this investment round. With the new investment round, Trendyol's shareholding structure included important investors from Asia, Europe, America, the Middle East and Turkey. Trendyol Founder Demet Mutlu made the following statements on the subject: "It is a source of pride for us to have brought the highest international investment to our country in the recent period. In addition, the fact that Trendyol is the first "decacorn" to come out of Turkey will strengthen our industry's position in the international arena. This investment will increase international interest in Turkey's digital ecosystem and will seriously contribute to development of our industry.” trendyol.com/Group President Çağlayan Çetin said in his statement, "We will use the new investment we have received to develop technologies that will create value, to make logistics and technological infrastructure investments that will facilitate the lives of our customers, to digitize our tradesmen and SMEs, to increase the e-export of Turkish products and foreign currency inflow to our country."
